Howard Payne University, Brownwood, TX  1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Certifications: Pre-K through 8th Grade Generalist, Mathematics, Family and Consumer Science, and Art PK-12th Grades

I have been in education since 1986.   I taught Kindergarten for 23 years; 5 years in the Everman School District near Fort Worth, 18 years at Hondo First Baptist Church School, before moving to D'Hanis ISD  After a 3 year vacation from the classroom as library aide for the district, I began the 2nd half of my teaching career in 2012, making the move to 6th grade.  This my fifth year in a 6th grade classroom and my fourth year to teach 7th grade mathematics.  I have been married for 30 years to David Haertner and have two sons, Andrew (25) and Nicholas (20). I enjoy cake decorating and reading. My passion is teaching students not only academic skills, but life skills as well in a positive manner. Our class motto is “You are responsible for you.” My goal is to create a love for math in your child and help your student learn that math is “figure-out-able”.

I am excited to be teaching HS Art classes as well.  These classes will focus on teaching students the elements and principles of art and give them a deeper understanding of the artistic process and art history.
